Is your cat's behavior different these past few days? Cats are great at hiding their ailments.

Our feline companions are living longer and longer lives. This is largely due to our better understanding of the diseases that commonly affect them. Cats in particular, early detection can be the difference between a favorable and grave prognosis. Of the four or five diseases that can affect cats in their later years, (8 and up) many of them present similarly. The following are a list of tell tale signs that warrant immediate intervention:

  • Increased thirst
  • Increased urination
  • Increased appetite
  • Decreased appetite (DO NOT OFFER HIGH PROTEIN FOODS SUCH AS TUNAFISH. This is a common mistake people make and could potentially worsen your cat’s problem)
  • Weight loss
