Emergency Pet Care

Any emergency is a big deal, especially for pet owners.  Emergency pet care is often life-saving medical treatment, where time is of the essence.  An emergency situation can be caused by an injury or an illness. Pet urgent care, provided by The Veterinary Outpatient Treatment Center, located in Medford, NY, is able to quickly and accurately identify your pet's ailment and find a solution fast.  The team at The Veterinary Outpatient Treatment Center has a wide range of pet services, and can help with any urgent care or trauma.

Common Conditions

Unfortunately, pets may end up in urgent care for a variety of reasons.  Injuries to your cat or dog will often require emergency services.  Fractured bones must be reset, and often operated on to properly set the bone.  Various pins and screws can be surgically implanted into the bone to add extra structural support.  Torn soft tissue injuries, such as a torn ACL, will often require emergency surgery to repair.  Internal injuries and bleeding, which may be the result of a car accident, require urgent care as well.  If a pet ingests a foreign object, emergency surgery is often required to remove the blockage in order to save the pet's life.  Further, many pet illnesses must be treated quickly.  Heat stroke, poisoning, and bloat are all very serious diseases that must be treated quickly.  If not, these conditions are often become fatal.

What to Expect

When bringing any animal to the office, we will get a baseline of the pet's vitals.  This will include your pet's temperature, heart rate, and possible blood work. At our office, we have the luxury of an in-house lab which allows us to read your pet's blood work and vitals within just 15 minutes.  When time is of the essence, this can make the difference between life and death.  From there, our team of veterinary specialists will recommend the proper course of action which may include emergency medicine or surgery.  Following a successful procedure, we will update you with the necessary follow-up procedures, medicine, and possible physical therapy to get your pet back on the road to recovery.

At The Veterinary Outpatient Treatment Center, we care about your pet's wellbeing.  We understand that any trip to a pet urgent care facility can be a scary time. Our team is not only passionate about animal health, but we are knowledgeable, and want to educate pet owners as well.  While we treat your pet and make him comfortable, we work with you, to ensure you understand what is happening.  Located in Medford, NY, our team is available to answer any questions about the pet services we offer.  To learn more, or to schedule an appointment, call us today at (631) 730-6929.
